i am starting to apply to colleges and i was wondering if anyone had any input...
I am lacking schools in my "target" range.
I want a LAC
location doesnt matter
I have a 29 ACT
4.0 uw GPA
i want a school that has a lot of school spirit...preferably good sports teams...
I also want a school that knows how to party and have a good time!
any suggestions will help!!

Isn’t this a strange time to apply? are you applying for spring semester?

I think it helps if you give a list of the schools you are already thinking of for reach and saftey, for reference. There are just too many schools to name without a bit more norrowing down. Just about any school will have parties.

not really…i am going to be senior this year so im just getting a jump on things with my hectic schedule and all… apps are due in like november december ish…im not applying ED…im thinking about wake forest…washington and lee…st. olaf…and maybe pepperdine…im also applying to vandy.

Any Ideas? experiences? thoughts?

What are your parents willing to pay?

not that big of an issue…

How about Barnard College in NYC?

Davidson College in NC is almost a target (maybe a slight reach), and weather/location-wise is decently similar to Wake and Vandy. When they made it to the sweet sixteen or whatever (i don’t follow basketball) the whole town of Davidson was crazed, and my guess is that the College was too.

I believe they have decent school spirit because of the following: LOTS of athletes and sports programs to root for, and the presence of 2 or so student stores on Main Street in the town of Davidson, and 21 Division 1 sports teams. I think I was told that a third play college sports at Davidson, but don’t count that as a fact. Also, their sports facilities are good (I’ve played on some of them!) and they have lots of green space to toss a frisbee or whatever around, too!

Admissions stats: ACT range of 28 to 33, about one-third of students had a h.s. GPA less than 3.75, 29% acceptance rate

I can vouch that Davidson is a great small town (but it IS small) and Charlotte is less than half an hour away.

Any specific major of interest to you? If not do you have favorite course types (math/science, English/foreign languages/humanities, etc.)?

i want a liberal arts base but i really want to go to med school. science and math are my best subjects.

Davidson has a Pre-Med Program (Their words: “Davidson has a rich tradition in the preprofessional training of future physicians. Its students have and continue to become leaders in the medical profession.”).

Davidson has majors in Math, Chem, and Bio so it may be of interest to you! It is most definitely a LAC, with 1-3 required courses in the following subjects: Literature, Fine Arts, History, Religion and Philosophy, Natural Science and Mathematics, Social Sciences, Foreign Language, Composition, and Cultural Diversity.
