Some have asked about “school spirit” at Northeastern. While intercollegiate athletics in Boston are generally not a big thing, the exception is hockey. And that builds to a frenzy when the Beanpot approaches. Monday the men’s team beat Harvard to win their tournament and last night the women’s team beat BC to win theirs.
A friend’s kiddo is at NEU and shared video from Monday night’s game—The Garden was rockin’! Hockey spirit has definitely been a factor in several kids’ decisions this year; NEU and BU are very popular at our high school.
The school spirit conversation seems to come from those used to football or basketball programs but I’m not sure there’s a bigger, better, and more amped up student section in top US college hockey than Northeastern. I wonder if there’s any video out there of a No T O/T. Now that gets entertaining.
