I've heard it doesn't really exist. can anyone comment? how well-attended are the sporting events? how was homecoming, etc?

Chicago is not a sports oriented school. School spirit is expressed in other ways, such as its sense of humor, commitment to intellectual excellence, and of course scav hunt.

love the last post-

My high school is really sports oriented, its about time for some change in college.

<3 damn I love chicago <3

There is also school spirit in the way that every student has a U. of C. shirt - and many wear the "Where fun comes to die" ones. They like the fact that one has to work very hard here, as opposed to schools with big names. . .

drum roll

katharos, have you seen the "where the only thing that goes down is your GPA" shirts? I really wanted to get one on my visit, but couldn't find them.

"Where the only thing that goes down is your GPA".

Isn't there another one that says, "Where the squirrels are prettier than the girls."
Doesn't that mean that something else would be going down too :-P

school spirit is definitely going up, check out http://hype.uchicago.edu

self-deprecation is one form of 'school spirit' but for those who are attracted to the traditional kind of college community spirit, don't write off uchicago yet. from what i hear, the administration and active like-minded members of the student body are slowly working on it.

thanks guys

I have not seen the "Where the only thing that goes down on you in your GPA" shirts. They are notorious, but perhaps everyone is afraid to wear them.

I have seen both of the "squirrels" shirts, which are hilarious. That is how things are, though, sad as it may be. The girls are not especially good-looking, and the guys are too shy.

shy like I am.....finally, a place where i can fit in

i like shy guys, eric. giggle.
