Hi!

I really love when a school has a ton of people participating in various events and going to sports games. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the school spirit was like at W&M because I might just go to a party-crazed SEC school in order to get my daily dose of school spirit.

Thanks!

W&M has a lot of school spirit. 2500+ students have been attending home football games recently, which is a huge percentage of the student body. You also see the spirit tons of other places, like opening convocation, commencement, yule log, charter day, etc etc.

Obviously it does not have the tailgating scene and general party scene of the SEC schools that focus on football over academics. I would also suggest that getting completely drunk and cheering for a football team SEC style is not the same as school spirit. A lot of people at those schools attend as a social event and to be seen, not to because they have school pride.

All of the athletes at W&M have to go to class. And the students don’t pee in the stands during the games.

To add to previous posts, we have a fairly new organization called Tribal Fever. This is a student booster club so to speak who works hard to support all athletic events on campus; not just football and basketball. They’re great about recognizing the achievements of all athletes and encourage students to attend all home games (they even helped to organize trips to away games at ODU and UVA in years past).

haha this is very true
