How is the school spirit at Dartmouth? Do people usually go to sporting events such as hockey and football games? Thanks!
The stadium at Harvard was full of Dartmouth fans who made the trek to see their team play Harvard a few weeks ago. Harvard came back to win 14-13 but it was a thrilling game nonetheless for Dartmouth fans. I have no idea how many fans show up for hockey games and football games in general though. Ivy League sports don’t usually draw a lot of student supporters.
Hockey used to be very much a spectator sport, but throwing things on the ice was frowned upon so it may have gotten less popular.
The school spirit is definitely there - especially on big weekends like homecoming. I would venture to say that most students at Dartmouth have more student than the average Ivy League student. But it depends on what exactly your definition of school spirit is.
As far as athletics, again, I think Dartmouth students are more spirited fans than the average ivy student. However, this could never compare to a major state school (obviously).
Besides athletics, I would say Dartmouth students are particularly loyal to their alma mater. In general, Dartmouth students love Dartmouth, and it shows.
