Hey guys, I'm a native american (registered) and caucasian girl living in oklahoma.
my sat scores are 1390 M+V and my gpa is 4.0. ACT 31; top 5% of class
i work 10 hours a week and have done a lot of summer camps, 2 being for minority students
i have a good, solid list of extra curriculars and my teacher and counselor rec's will be really good. I applied scea to stanford but i was wondering what other schools might be good a good match for me. thanks!

Yeah, this would help me out a lot too. I am a URM (Hispanic) with an ACT of 31 as well. I have a bunch of EC's with meaningful positions (Captain of 3 Varsity sports, Vice-President of SADD, Assistant Head Tour Guide etc). I applied ED to Dartmouth and I also was wondering if anyone had any good fits for me.

I hear being a native american = accepted. That's naive and stupid of me to say, but that's just what I hear.

if only that were the case

URM helps mostly at private schools, not public ones (illegal to consider URM at California public schools--and now at Michigan ones, too after last night's election).

The richer the school, the more likely they are to consider URMs. The reason is simple: they want a diverse student body, and quite often they are willing to pay the financial aid URMs usually need to attend the school. Also, schools that generally get few URM applications or are just slightly below the "most" prestigious would give you better chances. Also, schools that are more rural would often qualify, since they are unlikely to get a large number of URMs applying

With this in mind, I would expect schools like Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Lehigh University, Rice University, Worcester Polytechnic, Vassar, Hamilton College, and Colby to all give good URM aid.

Obviously, also, the Ivies and top colleges will give good aid packages, but getting in and getting this aid is extremely difficult considering the competition.

caughtinbetween and sanchez07 - To get any real help, you need to give a little more info. What are you looking for in a school? Urban/rural, small/medium/large, how far from home, possible major, cold/warm, etc. Too many colleges otherwise. What about Stanford made it your top choice?

Oberlin...
