School suggestions?

Hey Everyone,

I really could use some help. I am a Korean national studying in China. I really want to go to school in the US, but am a little overwhelmed when I start looking at the options. I would love some advice as what schools I could look at as safety, solid and reach. My biggest concern is financing my education. My parents don’t have much cash to help with my education. So, I really need to find somewhere that is going to give me close to 100% of the cost of attendance. This seems to be getting harder as more colleges look at international students as money bags. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve listed my stats below.

Regions I’m interested in: Western US, Mid-Atlantic, New England but open to others too

Major: Finance/Econ or maybe Engineering

SAT: 2130 (M-740, R-720, W-670); will raise to 2200+ this year hopefully.
SAT II: Math 2- 780, Physics 760, Literature 780

AP: World History- 4, Lit- 4, Chinese- 5, Calc BC- 5, Macroecon- 5, Microecon- 5, English Language- 5, Physics- 5. My school doesn’t offer any more APs.

GPA: 3.9ish

Toefl: 117

ECs: Beta Club Pres, Yearbook Chief Editor, Math Tutor, Tennis, Habitat for Humanity, Chemistry Club

Languages: Fluent Korean (obviously), perfect Chinese, pretty good English (I think)

Bumpity bump.

Hi! I’m not an international student, so I won’t be of the most help but I do know privates give a lot of financial aid (if you qualify) so you should try to aim for those. Ivy Leagues + famous privates will always be able to give more than others because they get a lot of money from their alumni so you should look there.

As for your stats, they’re pretty awesome so you definitely have a chance of getting into any school you want. It’s really up to how you sell yourself in your essays now, so really start working on those once you figure out what schools you want to apply to.

Good luck! I’m sorry I wasn’t more help.
