School Suggestions

HI,
1190 is correct- definately look at Davidson. They meet 100% of demonstrated need to students through grants and scholarships- no loans. Davidson is a wonderful, top-ranked LAC. Excellent success in graduates being accepted in 1st school of choice for med,. law, etc.

Also, check out the Rollins website for their full scholarship program- your ACT score puts you into consideration for their program. Rollins is a great LAC in a beautiful location. Strong in business, polysci, english. Not at the prestige level of Davidson, but a great school nonetheless.

Kenyon is a place you might want to consider if some merit aid woud be of help to you. It offers a number of scholarships in the mid-thousand range and is a fine school in a nice setting. (that is, $4,000-$6,000 a year, but more for even stronger students).

Re Davidson: it does give some merit aid but again, only a few full-tuition scholarships. As far as meeting 100% of demonstrted need without loans, that's for people who qualify for need-based financial aid and while a wonderful policy won't do you any or much good if you do not qualify for need-based need. By the same token, if you qualify for need-based any LAC is worth a shot.

padad: I don't think Barnard gives merit money. At least that's what D, my Barnard student tells me.

Bard gives merit money to lure science kids to attend. Botstein (pres.) gave a moving address that only training scientists in a liberal arts atmosphere can save the arts. In some cases it gives full tuition scholarships. It also reduces tuition to state school levels (home state) for top scoring kids.

My S received a full scholarship to Emory with top scores and grades like these. Emory has a tops D III swim program.
