I'm going into my senior year of high school and since I've always heard it is best to apply to colleges early, I plan on filling out applications very soon. The only problem is, I'm not really sure where to apply. I have a 3.4 UW GPA (3.8 W) and I got a 31 on my ACT. By graduation I will have taken 8 honors and 4 AP courses. I don't really have that great of extracirriculars, but I did play ice hockey for 2 years and participated in drama club for 3 years (this year I'm the secretary). I live in Michigan and I plan on applying to both U of M and Michigan State. I visited both campuses and actually liked Michigan State better, but I still would like to have other options. What colleges would be good for me?

Are you willing to travel far or would you rather stay closer to home? Do you like large or small, private or public? Rural, suburban or city? Weather a factor? Anything else you would like to add can help narrow things down for us.

Sorry I didn’t provide that information in my previous post. I’m willing to travel out of state, and weather isn’t really a factor (a warm climate would be nice, but I’m used to the cold of Michigan too). I would like to be either in a city or suburban setting. As far as campuses go, the thing I didn’t really like about U of M is how its broken up around the city, so preferably, I’d like a campus that is all together. I would like to attend at least a medium size school, if not a large one, with a lot of school spirit. Because of the difference in cost, I’d probably have to attend a public university, but I would not mind going to a private one if they were able to provide financial aid. I would just like to find a place where the students are driven and ambitious but also laid back and know how to have fun.

I’d say you’re a good match for UC Irvine. Large school (21,000+ undergrads) in a suburban setting (SoCal). It’s definitely affordable with a friendly but competitive student body. But hopefully, you won’t mind a slight lack of diversity.
