Does Berkeley hauhve any requirements on what to use (ie. traditional notebooks vs. binder/folder with loose leaf paper)?
Do professors care if we share notebooks for multiple subjects or do professors want a notebook/binder just for their class?
Are there any poster-board type projects at college (any requirement for markers, 3 hole punchers, etc.)?

A lot of my high school AP teachers still had such criteria so I wanted to check to see if Berkeley did as well.

1) Chances are, unless you're lucky enough to get into a small seminar, professors won't even know your name. So of course they definitely won't care about how you take notes. Nobody's going to look over your shoulder constantly and make sure you're right on track. That's for private school pussies.

2) For papers, however, DO pay attention to what kind of formatting and font the professor prefers/requires. Seriously, it could make or break a grade. I've seen it happen.

3) Some of the lower-div freshman classes, like Chem1A, have a poster presentation thing.

Here's the thing about going to college at a large public school like this: despite how negative or poor this may sound, there are no safety nets and nobody is here to hold your hand. It's pretty independent. Sure, there are resources for help if you need it, but even those are hard to get (unless you're an athlete or disabled). AP classes are nothing like real college classes. Honestly.

Take notes in whatever way you feel is best - laptop, notebook, multicolored pens, or just plain memory (although that might be a bit challenging). Nobody cares, as long as you do well on the exams and pass the classes.

I don't know about Berkeley specifically, but my god I'd be amazed if a professor would even look at your notebook much less concern him/her self with how you (an adult) organize things.

some classes have hw, some don't. some use online hw, some you have to turn in to gsi. it all depends. most people just bs and don't care about hw. they are pretty useless for midterms, except math.

dug this thread up for this particular question on tape recorders. I checked on ratemyprofessors.com and some of the ones go from one place to another. Can i record their lectures for future reference?
