what should i buy ahead of time, that you wish you had? i'm big on pens and pencils and smelly markers =] what about highlighters, staplers, printers, tape, hole punchers, binders, portfolio, and notebooks? sorry school supplies are like my favorite thing =).

NERDD!!! haha

Just playing! Just buy whatever you need. I would just stick with the pen, pencils, notebook, stapler, and folder unless your a person that actually uses highlights, hole punchers, etc.

oooh i see thank you and yes i hold that title with honor, thank you =)

also, do you ever see people w/ sanrio[ hello kitty] products and point and laugh?, cuz i love that stuff…

I said I was joking.

Edit: Nah Hello Kitty is awesome.

YES!!! i have a sweater and a shirt and a folder and earrings and a hair bow, lol ^-^

sapphire,

i think just about everything you mentioned, i’ve needed on various occasions. i would personally recommend a printer for the convenience of having it in your own room but, its not entirely necessary because, you can manage to find free printing on campus at various spots…

A little much I think haha. My cousins are like the biggest hello kitty fanatics though.

I personally hate them but I think its cool when girls sport them.

haha are you an incoming freshman futureucladoctor? if so, are you doing honors, peers, or fsp? if not, or if so, what is your major?

Yep, I’m an incoming freshman. I’m probably going to do some life science (premed) major, I don’t know what exactly yet but when I applied I applied as an engineering major. For the longest time, I thought engineering was what I wanted to do but after some time I discovered that I’d rather help people directly then solve other people’s problems. Because I was admitted as an engineering student, I wasn’t allowed to apply for honors. But thats okay because I can still take honor course if I want to.

What about you.

thats is amazingly awesome! i am incoming freshman, majoring in neuroscience, wanting to do premed to then become a neurosurgeon. doing honors, peers, and fsp, because i hate ucla and need to learn to love it. and yeah thats pretty much it, im obsessed w. hello kitty, but you already know that, lol.

Thats cool. Maybe we might have some classes together.

How can you hate UCLA. UCLA is the best school around. I choose it over many other great universities. It has everything. The sports, the weather, the academics, ample opportunities for research and internship, and so on.

ughh i wanted to go to berkeley but my dad wouldnt let me go, i hate the city, and im from socal and a forest child at heart. i chose it over ucsd and usc, and i guess cal-not my choice, too many blonde and cutthroat people, id much rather be at a place where appearance was not such a priority, and that only a select few shine because of how large the school is.

Gotchaa. I’m not from California so UCLA is going to be a whole new experience for me. I always wanted to experience LA so yeah. I can see why your probably not to thrilled about being at UCLA but I’m sure you’ll love it here after spending some time here. By the way are you a Bruin basketball fan?

not really, im contemplating buying tickets though, since they are so good… are you? are you a lakers fan, that i am!

where are you from btw?

East Coast. NJ

Don’t bring too much extra stuff. I thought I’d change my study habits from high school and take copious amount of notes and thus, I thought I’d need a lot of notebooks. I ended up taking nearly all of them back home. Remember you can still buy notebooks and supplies at the Ackerman store during the year. It might be better too, since you’ll only buy what you need, rather than buying everything you think you might need for the whole year

^true true thank you for that, i guess i am just a school supply junkie.

Appearance is only a priority if you yourself make it a priority. There are some shallow people here, but who cares about them unless you’re shallow yourself and care about your and other people’s appearances. Everything else you mention (cutthroat people, large school) applies to the school that you wanted to go to as well

Yes but the environment makes a difference as well on your performance. I know it shouldn’t matter where you are, it’s what you do. But still, if you were transitioning in life and had the motivation to do well not only because of the opportunities available to you but the atmosphere that suited your personality, the burden of change may be slightly lighter.

*i get what you’re saying though, and you make a valid point

I love how this thread has almost nothing to do with school supplies.
