I would bring scissors and tape, because inevitably you will tear something important or need help opening something, if nothing else. Those are household items as well as office supplies. Glue sticks and paper clips you can probably go without, though I find I use tons of paper clips personally.

Macbook (Microsoft Word/Powerpoint, iCAL, internet)… all I need.

If I must, I will use different folders/binders for certain classes, notebooks, and INDEX CARDS - so essential.

What about graph paper? I may just wait to see what my calc professor says before I buy any. Also, I stumbled upon this site the other day and it gave me some good ideas too.

[What to Take to College](http://whattotaketocollege.com/)

As someone has mentioned, a stapler (mini or otherwise) is ESSENTIAL. I know some of my professors deduct points if there isn’t a staple attached.

Something that I love but maybe only 1 or 2 of my friends have: bedside caddy

If you’re lazy and don’t want to get out of bed, the caddy can hold your remotes, controllers, ipod, book, drink, etc…Plus it’s always nice to not have to get out of bed mid-intimate act to get a condom.

I recommend using Zebra brand mechanical pencils.

I think most things can be stored underneath my bed.

Agreed 100%. My bed was lofted last year, so I got one since there was nowhere to put my glasses or anything else within three feet of my bed. [That is, until my roommate attached the world’s ugliest, most crooked shelf to my bed without telling me for some strange reason, which managed to rip my caddy and sheets apart until neither were usable.]

The same stuff you used in high school.

Does this bed caddy clip onto your bed? I plan on lofting my bed, and i’d like something up there acting as a little table. Could someone link a picture or pm me a link?

Nvm…just went to target Nd got one! Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Actually, I have a pretty bad handwriting. For me, taking notes on paper is basically a waste of time, as I won’t use them unless I really, really need to. Thus, I will mostly rely on Macbook Pro, apart from math classes, that is. There’s no problem with losing my papers, it is extremely easy to organize everything. I honestly can’t see myself doing it any other way.

Only supplies I can think of that might really come in handy are stapler and highlighters.

Some profs don’t allow laptops in classes…

I have thus far encountered one of those in my entire academic career. Not that big of a deal.

Probably a silly question, but I’m going to college across the country and I’m wondering if these supplies are supposed to be brought from home or bought once I’m there? I mean binders and notebooks and a 3 hole punch take up a lot of space …

I got a bunch of composition notebooks from target for $0.25 each today. They’re college ruled, and I will use them for my in-class notes.

Yelo, just buy them when you get there…the difference in price is negligible in comparison to the hassle of taking it on a plane.

If you buy from your university’s bookstore…they will be more expensive than if you had just gone to target or wally world =]

There’s no reason not to buy that kind of stuff once you get to school if space is a problem. It’s just ideal to not buy it from the school bookstore if you can help it, because as amber said it’s more expensive.

Only use the bookstore as a last resort… trust me.
