School Suspension

Will an out of school suspension for disobedience affect my chances much? I just got this last week. Basically, what happened was there was a lockout first period, and I was late that day. I tried to skip the lockout by going to the library , but later the AP's found out and were pretty upset about it, so I got suspended for 2 days.

Do you guys think I can still get into JHU, Rice, WashU, Cornell, Dartmouth with my out of school suspension, because Im really worried about it?

It’s going to hurt for sure but you should get into one of those schools

Btw, Im a senior already, and I already applied to all those schools RD this year… Can I still get into JHU (my first choice) ?

In all likelihood, it will not have any impact, unless your counselor decides to mention it in his/her final report - and I doubt s/he will. At that point, your counselor would not want to get a star student be rescinded for something that minor. Relax.

Ahh alright, but supposing that colleges do find out while they’re reviewing my app, would they reject me because of this ?

@Phoenix55555 the only way they can find out is if your school decides to send the report to each of those schools. Which would be very unfair, as it was a seemingly miniscule and trivial reason for suspension. Best of luck to you, and I hope that blemish doesn’t impact you! :)

Chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1621158-quinnipiac-hofstra-and-friends.html#latest

Would they include this on the mid-year report that gets sent out to all the colleges?

No, you just submit your transcripts.

Ahh alright, so you guys think I’ll still get into JHU this year

Well, we didn’t say you’d get into JHU…we just said we didn’t think you wouldn’t get in because of this. LOL>

Hmmm alright, thx

But looking at the ED results for class of 2018, it seems that I’m as qualified as all those who got in (not BME)?

Wow… got waitlisted WashU and rejected at Rice… damn

I guess your suspension did hurt because with your scores it would be very unlikely to get rejected from those schools

Your scores are adequate for those schools. You for waitlisted and rejected from 2 but that’s not the end of the road. I’m sure you’ll get accepted to some of them. Your suspension will not hurt, especially if on the transcript they put the reason for it. If you got suspended for trying to skip a lockout (which is a very stupid thing and could have resulted in serious harm if it was a real one), sure it’s serious, but it’s not that important for universities. If it was something like plagiarism, then I’d be worried. Good luck and don’t fret, you’ll probably get to at least several of those schools.

“I guess your suspension did hurt because with your scores it would be very unlikely to get rejected from those schools”

Based on comments such as the one above, I’d refrain from taking advice from this thread.

But doesn’t getting a referral hurt? Or does that not show up anywhere ?

Of course it shows up. But if they write the reason, frankly no university cares about you skipping a lockout. That does show some serious stupidity and lack of maturity though. Don’t worry about it. If you have the stats you get in, I’m sure it won’t affect your admission (unless of course you are borderline selected - in that case you might be rejected for that reason to free up a spot for another stupid - albeit very unlikely).

caveat: making another stupid mistake like plagiarism in university may get you suspended/expelled/jailed.
