School that most looks like Hogwarts?

Which college or university most looks like Hogwarts?

My d. felt that U of Chicago had a definite Hogwarts feel:

That also appears to be the “experts choice” in this column, which gives high marks to Cornell, Kenyon & Bryn Mawr as well:

It’s been discussed on CC before:

Cornell. Easily.

Well, it’s hard to top Oxford and Cambridge in this department. Some indoor scenes for the movies were filmed in Oxford so in many ways Oxbridge really IS Hogwarts.

Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. Though it was modeled after Oxford.

rocketman08, Some years ago we were visiting England at the same time that family friends had a daughter attending Oxford. My then 10 year old, Harry Potter mad son was given a tour of Oxford by this young woman. He was in heaven! It was interesting for me as well but not nearly as magical.

Yale reminded me of Hogwarts somewhat and the newest dorms (I don’t think they call them that?) at Princeton, the one that Meg Whitman paid for, looks it would fit in at Hogwarts, at least from the outside.

U of Chicago.

When we went into one of the residential colleges at Princeton and looked at their “dining hall” my daughter’s friend said “Wow, this looks like Hogwarts!”

Wellesley has its own “Platform 9 3/4”

The University of Washington has a room in one of its main libraries called “the Harry Potter room” because it looks like the Great Hall at Hogwarts.

Oxford.
Cambridge.
Arcadia University. You can live in a castle with actual secret tunnels and a ghost.

(1) Oxbridge
(2) American universities that have ripped off Oxbridge

Inside U Pitts Cathedral of Learning - very cool and very hogwartsy. I kind of expected the staircases to move.

Take a look and let me know what you think:

A lot of colleges (like Harvard) will have one Hogwartsy building, but I think Chicago wins the density award.

There are bits of West Point that aren’t bad:

J’adoube: Thanks for that link. I enjoyed the pictures.

Having spent 10 years walking the halls of U Chicago, one gets inured to its beauty. As we are getting ready to go see the Harry Potter movie this evening, its fun to see those pictures and think back.

I’d posit that Yale’s residential college system is mimicked well in Rowling’s description of the various Hogwart’s houses. Forget how the school looks – which school imbues the spirit?

I say look to New Haven. Their alum are rabid about the RC system there.

a couple that haven’t been mentioned here:

My daughter had an excellent visit to Sewanee a couple of months ago (she liked it enough to apply), which has a good bit of Gothic architecture, more than occasional low ground fog, and a tradition that students that meet academic criteria and professors wear gowns around campus.
