My DS attended the current school last fall. So the current school's transcript only covers 7th grade and 8th grade (current grade). Is it a problem for most boarding school applications? Thanks.

I think that many middle schools, or Junior high schools, as in NYC publics, start in 7th grade. I can’t imagine that would be an issue. My daughter’s school was 5to 8th grade but she started there in 6th, and that wasn’t a problem with the transcript. It is my understanding that they really want to see 7th and 8th grade transcripts…

We had the school counselor print the 6th grade transcript even though it was elementary school. For us, it was a public school district so she had access to the information. If I recall correctly, the applications specifically asked for 6th grade grades. I would call and ask the admission offices before making assumptions. Good luck!

I agree with Leafy. If you don’t submit 6th grade transcript, your app won’t be complete until you do so. Better ask the previous school to send one now.

Thank you for the advice.

It depends on the school so ask the school. Ours asked for the grades for the last 2 years, 7th and 8th grades.

For OPS, it’d be only <1.5 years with 7 & 8th grades.

I’m pretty sure my school only sent in transcripts from seventh and eighth grade, even though I’m in my third year there.

My son’s school sent reports from 6-8th grade. I know there were some questions about kids who started in 7th. I think they were supposed to contact their prior school for the 6th grade report. Check the website for each school where DS is applying. If you still have questions then contact your AO at any school. That should be easily addressed in a quick email.
