Schools Aboard

Is anyone aware of any good schools aboard? (English speaking only).

Pm me if you want. My daughter attended a girls' boarding school in England, and we visited and researched a lot of schools......many of them are wonderful places for young girls. Financial aid is difficult though, and tuition is about the same/or higher than in the U.S., especially with the dollar/pound exchange rate being so bad right now.

do you mean abroad or aboard?

Aboard a boat?

No, sorry. ;)

I know a girl who knows great all-girls boarding schools in England (her family member went to one), if that's what you're looking for. I also know a great boarding school in Switzerland, where my mom went, and another where my cousin went.

le rosey..

Yeah, exactly, that's the boarding school I was talking about in Switzerland. I think someone else was talking about that earlier this year as well.

On second thought, it's not EXACTLY English-speaking.

Thank you! I'm only interested in school's who teach classes/ normally speak in English. But it would be fine if another language was also spoken.

I think English is spoken in the school though, but French is heavily influenced.

Thank you- and yes, I did mean abroad! ;)

I know someone who goes to Aiglon College in Switzerland and he likes it. I've also heard good things about Harrow and Eton in England, as well as Schule Schloss Salem in Germany.

My friend goes to a boarding school in Sweden (Sigtuna?)

There's TASIS, American boarding schools that are in Switzerland and England, and if you're looking more for culture/language immersion ones, there's SYA, School Year Abroad, that have programs in Spain, Italy, France, and China.

Angelica Huston went to a splendid looking girls school in Ireland. Truly amazing looking.

a very good friend of mine is visiting schools in berlin and vienna right now. She says two of the schools are primarily english and I can send you those names when she gets back(the end of the month).

The United World Colleges are located at many different countries -- Wales, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, and India just to name a few. English is the primary language at all UWC schools and they are all IB diploma schools. It is only for 11th and 12th grade.

At Le Rosey, they speak in English and French. While you are there, you are expected to learn french. They told us that each student has one class that is predominantly all in French (if htey are non-French speaking students) so that the student will pick up the language quicker...
Le Rosey is deffinetely one of hte best, the dorms are really good (private bathrooms for 9-12 grades) and hte food is also really good.

Lahore has an excellent program.

College du Leman has a boarding school in Geneva Switzerland. It has both an English and French program.
