The specific program I want is a Bachelor of Music degree, with a double-major option in vocal performance and Music education.
The fact that I want a bachelor of Music in both majors, and not a Bachelor of Arts or Science makes the search harder...my reasons for this requirement are of personal preference. I want to have most of my curriculum in music, so I can take as many music courses as I can and learn as much as possible while still fulfilling my degree requirements.

My D will be getting a BM in violin performance at Miami U of Ohio, and will be doubling (technically a double degree, not a double major) in the College of Arts and Sciences (probably a language or linguistics major). That second degree in her case will be a BA - it is not music related.

Miami-OH does offer a BM in music education as well. But I don't know if it is possible to double major within the BM degree. I do know that they told us education majors often go 4½ or 5 years. However, it might not meet your requirements, because MU has an extensive core curriculum outside of the music program, which you don't want. You can write to them and ask!

The 5 year program at Hartt is a BM double major: http://harttweb.hartford.edu/adm-degree-undergrad.htm

I live in Ithaca and love music, though I'm planning on going further away for college (I'm a rising senior). The music at Ithaca College is absolutely stunning. I know one of the main choir faculty, and he is wonderful. The top choir is very selective, and admired in the music circuit.

Because I attend high school close to Ithaca, I also have had some of the education majors come in as student teachers. They are all fabulous musicians and speak very highly of their time at IC.

Ithaca is a wonderful college town. We have everything you could want, and larger cities such as Binghamton and Syracuse are only an hour and a half away.

I know that the musical theater department is extremely selective, but I'm not sure about regular admissions. This year, two of my music friends got in, one on clarinet performance and the other one on vocal performance and education.

Best of luck to you! If you have any other questions feel free to message me!
