Hello! I'm a Virginia resident and I'm looking to row at a highly competitive level and study engineering- I am leaning towards Materials or Chemical.

Grades: 3.92 (AP Chem, BC Calc, Multi Calc, AP Physics, AP Bio, IB English)
SAT: 2110

Here is the list of schools I am applying to:

UVA
Virginia Tech
UPenn
Brown

My safety school, Tech, does not offer competitive rowing. What other schools should I consider? I don't know much so any advice would be wonderful!

Or do you have potential for being a recruited scholarship athlete in rowing and are looking for schools of that nature? For example, many of the those on this list have chemical and/or materials engineering:

Are you male? Men’s Rowing – Unlike other sports, with crew NCAA teams row against many club teams. The difference would be cost to you to join. There are some very competitive club teams. I would not knock out club teams without some investigation into each.

EDIT to correct – Sorry, I didn’t mean to say NCAA vs club, I meant to say college sponsored vs club. There are no Men’s NCAA teams.

WPI competes in the NEWMAC conference against schools like MIT. And the brand new athletic center has rowing tanks.
Might be a safety for you and they award merit scholarships :)

Here is a link to the top rowing programs in the country. Washington and Northeastern might be great matches since they have strong engineering programs, rowing programs, and stat wise would be a good fit.

Have you had a look at Drexel University in Philadelphia? This is div 1 rowing, scholarships available compete at Head of the Charles etc and engineering is a strength of the University.
