My S is auditioning at conservatories and universities for clarinet performance this year. He has applied to Michigan, Northwestern, CIM, MSM, and Minnesota. I haven't been able to come across anyone who has info on the Minnesota school of music? My S had a lesson with Burt Hara and really liked him, but we are wondering about the reputation of the school of music?

Not much revealed by a search on past threads other than a casual mention of UMinnesota.

However, going back to the '07 Master List, http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/310197-master-list-music-school-acceptances-16.html?nojs=1#goto_threadsearch
the poster juniorbill had a daughter planning to attend UMinnesota as a clarinet major.

It’s a shot in the dark, but if you search for the poster by name, you can send a pm or email through CC. Info from the source is always good. If you need direction on how to do this, post here or pm me and someone will walk you through it. Good luck to son on auditions.

Perhaps others here have more recent info.

ClarinetMama, I am going to PM you.

I know it’s kind of late to reply, but with daughter starting senior year next year to finish her studies with Burt Hara I haven’t been lurking here lately. Now that youngest son is beginning as a h.s. sophomore (and interested in both piano and film) we’re in the hunt again. … Our understanding is this will be Burt’s last year teaching at UMN-Twin Cities due to cutbacks. I think he’ll continue providing private lessons, but I can’t say for sure. What was the outcome with your son?
