Hi,

I'm looking to apply to apply for a CS undergraduate program. I am a California resident. I have a 1930 on the SAT, 3.55 weighted GPA and looking to increase my SAT score. I have a couple questions,

Is CS part of the school of engineering for that specific university

where can I find statistics for the schools of engineering/computer science rather than the general statistics for admitted students (things like GPA/SAT scores) online

what are some good schools to look at that my profile will fit into and that are not too expensive

thank you.

For UC and CSU, calculate your GPA by the UC and CSU method:
[University of California - Calculating GPA](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/q-and-a/calculating-gpa/index.html)
[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

For UC, take a look at the admission profiles:
[University of California - Freshman admission profiles](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/profiles/index.html)
[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu)

For CSU, calculate your eligibility index:

You can check the minimum needed for various majors at various schools. For example, at San Jose State (note that there is both a Computer Science major and a similar Software Engineering major):
[SJSU Admission](http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-1199.html)

As far as where CS is in the university’s organization, it depends on the school. At UC Berkeley, for example, you can do CS either under the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science major in the College of Engineering, or the Computer Science major in the College of Letters and Science (both majors select from the same CS courses).
