Schools for technical theater/lighting design

My s is a junior in technical design and production at a performing arts high school. He is putting together a list of possible programs and has the following:

UNCSA
Rutgers
VCU
Temple
Penn State

He also learned about the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RSAMD) at a college fair and is very interested. Does anyone know about this program for tech/lighting? Also please recommend any other programs. TIA

CMU
Syracuse
James Madison (BA, but so is Temple)
CCM
SUNY - Purchase
Longwood
UNC- Greensboro

Thanks, KatMT.

UArts
DePaul
Emerson
Boston U.
Syracuse
Ithaca

well, those schools like UArts, and BOCO are more tailored to Musical theatre and acting. I would look at those schools that aren’t only known for their acting and MT programs, like UNCSA, SUNY-Purchase, Emerson. There is also a wonderful technical program on the rise at Elon. Elon is a well rounded theatre department, fantastic talent in both the MT and acting, and even more talent in their technical design. But if its more tailored to design that you’re looking for, I would definitely go for UNCSA, or DePaul.

Check out Fordham LC

[Design and Production Major](http://www.fordham.edu/academics/programs_at_fordham_/theatre_department/prospective_students/training__curriculum/_design_and_producti/index.asp)

Look at Columbia College Chicago as a fall-back. Also, Emerson and UArts both own spectacular, historic opera houses, which students have a chance to work in.
