Schools for the culinary arts plus something else?

Hi everybody!

So, after a couple years of being largely absent (following my own college adventures through three years of college at two different schools), I'm back to seek your help and tap into the wealth of knowledge that is CC.

My friend's little sister (who's basically like my own younger sibling) wants to study culinary arts. My friend and I are also advising her to study something else simultaneoulsy. For example, a degree in business would be helpful not only as a fallback, but in successfully starting and running her own restaurant, bakery, or what have you.

Do any of you know of school which offer programs/ diversity in majors like this? Preferably something on the East Coast for an average student.

Thanks in advance!

City Tech, a branch of the City University of NY in downtown Brooklyn, has a hospitality management program that includes culinary arts.

Have her look at the community colleges. Most offer business classes, some have dorms. They have more hands on programs.

My SIL attended Sullivan County Community College, a SUNY. She ended up being a food service manager at the Brown Palace in Denver after working there a few years. She gave up the hospitality industry because the hours are not conducive to family life.

Johnson and Wales have culinary arts programs. They cost more than the CC do.

Thanks, guys. I really appreciate your help!
