Schools I should consider?

I'm open to suggestions and I'm curious to see what other people's opinions are.

I'm a senior and I want to major in biochemistry, I plan on being "pre-med"
or maybe finance/economics for business or maybe med school.

My essays are really good and recommendations should be great.

I'm from California and I applied to
UC: UC Davis, UCSD, UCLA, and UC Berkeley
Cal States: Humboldt, Cal poly slo, cal poly pomona, and i think csulb

My GPA is low because I have 4 C's on my transcript (ugh) in Honors Algebra 2 (my sophomore year) and AP Physics C my junior year (which was a struggle since the class in my school has a strong calc emphasis and i was in pre-calc)

AP's: Euro, APUSH, Literature, Physics

Senior classes: AP Spanish, AP Comparative Politics, AP Lang, AP Chemistry, AP Calc AB, and AVID

My stats aren't extraordinary, but any advice is welcomed, thank you!

I haven’t heard of it before, and i looked it up and saw that you said in another post that it was a great school. Did you go there?

You should look into honors college at ASU/University of Arizona. My sister is attending ASU and loves it, but it all depends on what type of a person you are. Also, University of Oregon and University of Washington are good schools. I don’t know much about East Coast colleges, so this is all I could think of.

Chem = go to the University of Washington. Great program and they have more research based funding than most other schools combined.

Since you are looking for financial aid out of state public universities are unlikely to work.

You need an additional safety or two. My sense is that with your stats the colleges to which you’ve applied are for most part reaches. You probably have a safety/match with CSU Humboldt. Have you discussed with your college counselor?

@Treyinator I’m looking at mostly schools on the east-ish coast or in California. I’m not a fan of the hot weather, and I honestly wouldn’t consider going to an out of state public because of the price

@CallMeADawg The app period is closed now, i’ve heard great things about it though

@Fogcity, I have talked to her but we talked more about my major, vs the schools. She told me that there was a chance that i would get into (USC) for example, but there was a chance of me not being accepted as a biochem major since others have taken ap chemistry already when i’m just doing it now, so my subject tests wont be as great as others.
She thinks my common app as a whole is great and that my essays are great too, though. I’m a really good writer (not trying to be vain),

If you’ve been getting Cs in HS math and science, you may want to rethink your biochemistry/pre-med objectives (unless there has been a strong upward trend in those grades).

I agree with fogcity that if you require need-based FA, out-of-state public universities probably won’t work. Consider adding one or two less-selective schools in the UC system. If you’re interested in private out-of-state schools, check out liberal arts colleges ranked in the US News 25-75 range or so (Muhlenberg being one example). Many of these schools have decent need-based aid (meeting 90% or more of demonstrated need) and would be appropriate targets for your stats.
