CHIPOTLE. Oh my goodness.

I never realized Modell's (sporting goods) wasn't all over the country :(

Out here all they have is Dick's, which is nationwide but not nearly as good (and with a worse name)

i never realized that dunkin donuts wasnt nationwide- there are at least 10 in every town here

We have one a few towns over...the Krispy Kreme store is a couple towns over further away, though. It sucks.

Ruston doesn't have those, either, but their Walmart donuts are better than most. It'll work.

I think I might die without Chipotle in Boston. AGGHGGHGHGHGH!!! Thank God you told me that...I'll eat a million before I leave.

And Wal-Mart has NOTHING on Target. Target is simply amazing.

Cali ---> New Hampshire

I sincerely miss In-n-Out Burger (the puffy buns and thousand-islandish sauce are just irreplaceable), Target (I agree completely CityGal), Safeway, and Pasta Pomodoro.

... 100TH POST YAY!

Ruston doesn't have Target...and I've never been in a Target that had half the stuff the average Walmart I've been in has.

I agree that most of Target's stuff is better, though.

But I'll stick with my Walmart donuts :)

Aside from all the political issues surrounding WalMart, they're just so dirty. Granted, we only have one around where I'm from, but it's consistently filthy. Between the trapped McDonalds air and spills and cart congestion and the blinding fluorescent lighting and unattended urchin children and shelves packed so tightly they bend, that store is like Hell In A Box. In Orange County, if you have a choice you go to Target or Costco and if you don't you're left with WalMart. The quality just doesn't really compare. However, since it's not very popular here and we have 6 well-maintained Targets for every WalMart, the WalMarts tend to attract a somewhat... different... clientele.

I may be biased though, since the one I've been to is so terrible.

But I do love Target ever so much. Cute psuedo-designer clothes that are decent enough for me to consider use outside of the house? And for cheap? YAY.

Yep, Target is paradise. Thank God they have one near my school.
Walmart is lame. End of story.

Eek. We have a few Walmarts like that here, but we also have some nice ones.

The closest Target to me is in far worse shape than the closest Walmart. It's completely flipped.

cries in memory of Braum's banana split

dude, I miss Wal-Mart supercenters of doom. Oh low low prices how I miss thee

I think Target is a more northern thing. Wal-Mart in the south seems to be the "thing." Maybe they are more well maintained down there because it was originally a Southern store.

I have to agree that most Wal-Marts I've been in have been pretty gross. But, I have noticed that when I get into an area where Wal-Mart is more popular than Target, the stores do get a little nicer.

The thing is, Target is just so much more stylish. Everything from bedding to clothing to home accessories is funky and cutting edge. I mean, the famous designers they have creating affordable clothing and home furnishing/accessory lines ALONE should tell you that Target is hands down better! Even the food is cool. They recently added all those Target-only food brands, and they are so upscale and almost European looking. Very streamlined.

The thing with Target is that they have created this image where it is almost hip to shop there. Everyone I know would go to Target for just about anything.

I have to say though, Wal-Mart does have a great craft section. That alone is a reason to shop there!

Target does have waaaay better clothes and home stuff. There's absolutely no way around that.

Ours doesn't have much food, though...mostly just random snackish stuff.

OMG another person who knows BRAUMS! I love thee ;D

I miss Walmart supercenters too. The ones around my house were pretty new and it had nice stuff. I also went to Target which was also really close... Target is around here I know but i don't know exactly where... LOL

Target DOES have much better clothes and home stuff. Wal Mart has alot of stuff in general and cheap stuff... XD

Braums is really good (I can never decide which flavor I want, though)...there's a custard store right by the one in my area that's awesome, but I can't remember the name for the life of me. Hm.

Well, I moved out of Texas ten years ago in January and I STILL miss Rudy's barbecue. Man.

I'm going up to Berkeley in the spring, and I know I'm going to miss all the chains because so few actually exist up there -- In n' Out is hard to get to, there aren't many Targets/WalMarts around, no BestBuys... it's going into independent town. Wow. Keenly going to miss In n' Out and Panera, though.

it's so weird hearing everyone call it panera. here it's still st. louis bread co.

Ours used to be called St. Louis Bread Company like 10 years ago, then it switched to Panera.

i wish they wouldn't have changed it, we deserve some recognition!

I live in the south, and I vote Target all the way. Wal-mart is good if you're going to just get cheap stuff (and they do have a much bigger grocery section than target unless you are lucky enough to have a supertarget around you). Target just has better quality stuff in general, and it's much cleaner here. And has anyone else noticed how walmart has 40 zillion aisles and only 3 are open at any given time? I worked at Target for a while and when people start lining up more than 2 in a line, they call in extra people from sales floor to help check people out. Guest First, dude, and it's awesome.
