Schools in London

I'm currently a sophomore at a college in Springfield, Massachusetts. For several reasons, I'm looking to transfer for the Fall of 2008 semester.

I would love to attend a college in London, but know absolutely nothing about any of their schools or how it works. Could anyone please offer me some insight into this?

Ideally, I want to major in creative writing, but a major in English with a creative writing concentration would also work. I'd also love for the school to be located in central London, but so long as it isn't in the outskirts or in a shady area, I'm not too picky.

My college GPA is a 3.6, but that will be brought up to a 3.7 by the end of the semester. I'm also involved on campus with several leadership groups, volunteer work, and work study. My high school credentials aren't as good however; due to medical reasons, I was unable to perform to the best of my abilities (I had a 2.6 GPA and an 1100 on my SAT's).

Could anyone offer some advice for some schools to look into?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!! :]

look up imperial college london

King's College, London is right in the central city. My daughter is going in January. Start by studying its website. There is a section for international students.

It is very difficult to transfer to a UK university. Most of them don't allow it and you would have to start again from the 1st year (of a 3 year course. A BA is 3 years in England). I would recommend e-mailing the schools you are interested in because only they can tell you if they would consider accepting you as a transfer.

You won't get any financial aid. It basically doesn't exist. Living in London is VERY expensive too, and you will have to pay international fees which are much higher than those of home students.

You have to apply through ucas at
www.ucas.com
Use the "course search" on this site to find the course you want to study.
Forget about minors and majors. You sign up to do one subject and that's it. No swopping. (there will be modules within the course that you can choose from no doubt. But they will all be strands of the same subject).

This is the university of London. You apply to the individual "colleges" which act as universities in their own right really.

This isn't the only university in London though. There are lots of others, such as Greenwich, London Metropolitan, Brunel, East London, Kingston, South Bank, Roehampton, Westminister etc etc. Uni of London is the most well regarded though.

I just searched UCAS for creative writing courses and I found Uni of East London, Goldsmiths (V.highly regarded in the UK), Greenwich, Kingston, London Met, South Bank, Roehampton, Royal Holloway, St Mary's Twickenham, Uni of the Arts and Westminister all offer this subject. Apply ASAP because admission is rolling.

You can't go to Imperial college. It is a science only school.

ECs are completely disregarded. It's all about grades.

Thanks so much for your help, everyone!!
