Hi,
I’m a freshman at roberts wesleyan college and unless theres a loop hole i’m not finding we aren’t allowed to double major between music ed and performance and there is no four and a half program in place. Don’t get me wrong I love my school but being just as good of a performer as the performace majors is really important to me and we are not able to reach the same comitency level as them( we have a level system in my school) and are not able to access the same performace opportunities. I love my school but that’s guage as performing, teaching are equally important in my life and slightly more so is god. Are there any schools, especially smaller schools with a simular price tag to roberts that allow you to double major? it’d be nice to at least have somewhere else to go
I don’t the price tag similarity but Ithaca College allows for double major music ed and performance.
My son is a performance/ed double major at eastman
In Connecticut, not NY, but close. Hartt.
SUNY Potsdam Crane School of Music.
There is a strong Intervarsity program at Potsdam and many of the students perform at local churches.
What are the programs like at Potsdam and Eastman I didn’t originally look at either but I guess I should have
Not sure about Ithaca had audition there for that program and I didn’t get into anything other than the music education part and got no scholarship
Eastman is a top school on most lists. However, you probably missed the deadline for applying to Eastman.
Potsdam is one of the top public music ed programs in NYS about half of the music teachers in NY are Crane alum. Potsdam will be very affordable compared to privates especially if you are a NYS resident. They offer both academic and talent scholarships. Potsdam would also allow a jazz minor.
