<p>Hey, wats up everyone?? Can you guys give me some schools in the northeast, some safties, matches, reaches, that I should consider. The school I really like is Syracuse University if you could chance me on that one</p>

<p>OK here are my stats...</p>

<p>Freshman year, I didnt care about school so much, finished the year with a 78 or 2.4 GPA</p>

<p>Sophmore Year, I really thought about how bad I did, and what I wanted to do with my future, I finshed the year with a 3.3 GPA</p>

<p>Junior Year, I did alot better,3.6 GPA(took an elective called Special Topics in Science, I think it was worth noting)</p>

<p>Senior Year,-Im in college level english classes, college level social studies classes,college level spanish 5, pre-calc, im taking AP Bio, physics, and a Science Research Class, my schedule is really packed, AP Bio, Sci. Research,Spanish 5,and pre-calc are weighted, the other classes are still college level,im gona work my *** off to get A's atleast for the first semester, so that colleges see them</p>

<p>Other Stats</p>

<p>-I got a 1700 onSAT,im studying hard this summer,going for atleast 1800 infall</p>

<p>-Ill take the SAT Subject Tests in Literature, and Mathmatics 1</p>

<p>-Spanish Honor Society for two years</p>

<p>-Ive been volunteering at a nursing home for about a year now</p>

<p>-Ive been in two Science Research competitions</p>

<p>-I know Ill get atleast one AMAZING reccomendation from the teacher that saw me go from a really bad, obnoxious student, to a hard worker , and determined to be succesful, had him in tenth grade for bio, 11th for Special Topics in Science,12th for Science Research</p>

<p>-Im hispanic, female, my family has a low income (40,000.... maybe less), ill be first to go to college in my family</p>

<p>-The school I would really love to go to is Syracuse University</p>

<p>Considering your whole profile I would say you are a clear match for Syracuse and likely to get in. As for other schools in the Northeast, if you are from NY the SUNY schools would be great for you. There is a whole range of SUNY schools to choose from.</p>

<p>It’s Syracuse or maybe, at the very minimum, Villanova. You’re really passionate in Science. :slight_smile: Keep it up!</p>

<p>Hey Jessica17 as other posters have said SU is likely a match for you. Also if you want more options you might consider taking the ACT, since many find it easier than SAT? You could also look at Ithaca College, Marist College, SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Stony Brook (good for science interest, because I believe they’re a top research university)
Hope that helps, and if you’re really keen on SU, ED would be a good choice.</p>

<p>Syracuse would be a great school for you. You must be very proud to be the first of your family going to college. keep up the good work :)</p>

<p>Syracuse is probably a match. The fact that you are a first-generation URM will definitely boost your chances tremendously. But get your SAT up! </p>

<p>Hi! I’m sort of in the same boat as Jessica17… but I’m Asian.</p>

<p>I’m an average student, SAT score was a 1700 (1080 CR+M). My GPA is probably somewhere around a (I’m not sure, transcripts weren’t available for juniors) 3.0-3.2 (3.32-3.4 weighted). I do a lot of volunteering and I am active in two clubs at school. I also have two internships and a part-time job in the upcoming school year (my senior year). I’ve also worked in my junior year and recommendation letters shouldn’t be a problem for me. </p>

<p>With that said, what do you guys think of my chances of getting into Ohio University?</p>

<p>I would say Oklahoma State- my friend with similar (if not lower) stats went there.
Great campus, great facility, great people.</p>

<p>As others said I think you have a good shot at Syracuse and at many SUNY school. You are in a very similar situation to me with grades and SAT. With that being said, could you chance me? </p>

<p>I’d say you’re in for Syracuse. The 75th percentile SAT scores at Syracuse is 1900, so an 1800 will do you well. (With a 1700, you’d be right in the middle.) </p>

<p>The recommendation from your teacher talking about how you went from a C to an A student would be fantastic. It shows you work hard, are interested in learning, and face challenges dead-on.</p>

<p>Your ECs are decent, but joining a club or two wouldn’t hurt.</p>

<p>And the low-income/first generation/URM thing will get you far.</p>
