Schools Jews Select

The issue with the list is that all those are HUGE schools. So it seems they went by number of Jewish students rather than percentages. At least that is how it appears to me. PENN State may have a huge number of Jewish students but that may equate to far less than 10% of the population.i

Well, there are about 10 or so medium to small schools, but your point is true.

Evidently I did not read the info thoroughly since they conceded that point at the onset clarifying that it is based on numbers only.

Trust me, a pretty decent percent at Penn State are Jews. Alot of which are from my school which sends about 130/400 a year to Penn State.

From the same publication that put out the list, here's a list of reasons why Jewish students might want to choose "Jewish-friendly" colleges:

to put into perspective for others, it would be like the only person celebrating christmas surrounded by thousands of non-christians. not a big deal most of the time, but at certain times, its nice to share common beliefs

Huskem, you make a good case and I agree with you. I'm a white Catholic guy, and it would be awkward for me if I went to a place like Brandeis--nobody to get falling-down drunk with, and nobody to go bowling with. And if you believe Prestige, nobody to tell me if I have my hood on straight.

wow, that was certainly uncalled for... i don't remember ever calling you a white supremicist.

I was kind of joking, but what was post #41 all about?

my post #41:
...well white Christian groups practicing exclusionary policies don't exactly have the best track record... Nazis, KKK, etc.

by contrast, when, say, a bunch of Asians get together, genocide isn't a topic that comes up very frequently.
I still don't understand how that calling you a white supremacist? You'll recall that my post was a response to your preceding post #40 in which you wrote:
Now if white Christians wanted to do that...THAT'S a problem.
To which I was merely pointing out the rather poor track record that white Christians that practice exclusionary policies <<-- note the key distinction here>> have

Further, I mentioned Asians as an example to highlight (and contrast) the fact that when Asians get together, they don't have a track record of, say, wanting to destroy, say, Hispanics... (perhaps not the best analogy).

TourGuide, you seem like a pretty enlightened fellow, I never would have pegged you as an apologist for white supremacists.

Wha? I'm not apologizing for them. The KKK hates Catholics about as much as they hate anybody else, and some of my earliest memories were of my father living in a hospital bed in our small dining room because his World War II back injuries were still coming and going (he was an infantry officer in the 103rd Division in Europe; and my mother had been an Army nurse in the Pacific), so I was never a big fan of the Nazis, either. In #41 you made it sound like if white Christians are allowed to have a lodge or a frat or a club, then a genocide or an invasion of Poland will soon follow. It's not a big deal. Besides, I don't think there are any reputable white-only Christian groups, anyway. It was a hypothetical. I'm sure we're both enlightened and misinterpreted each other. Peace, brother.

hey dude, no worries... and likewise, if you were offended or insulted in anyway, my apologies.

i have a lot of respect for your posts - not to mention the fact that if there was a CC "Conan O'Brien" humor award, you'd be the first nominee.

I'm sure there are people at Brandeis like that. I know there are plenty of us like that at other schools. I dont mind drinking and I certainly like Bowling.

I was just havin' a little fun with the Catholic stereotypes. But note that you "don't mind" drinking. When I was at BC, I think the average student's attitude towards drinking was a tad more enthusiastic. It's good that there is a place for everyone.

I'm sure theyre like me at BU :P

I like drinking, but i'm not a drunky ;)
