Hello Chants and Chant fans,
My son is currently a BFA Acting major at Coastal and has loved it from the moment he stepped on campus. SO much so, that my D–a year older and also a thespian–wants to transfer from her small state college to a more rigorous actor/director training program like his. She–and my son–do not want to attend the same college–which we totally understand. So…any suggestions for schools similar to Coastal in size, training, selectivity? She is a non-traditional student–a 21 year old sophomore who started at a small private liberal arts school, left that school after a year and half and took a semester off to work. She then enrolled at a VERY small state college–which is now too small! ACT scores were 27, High School GPA was a 3.2, College grades are all over the place: 4.0 in theatre classes and 1.9 to 3.8 in non-major classes. She consistently gets cast in roles at school and in the community: ie…Baker’s Wife in ITW, Tracy in Hairspray, Sour Kangaroo in Seussical, Philament in Moliere’s Learned Ladies, etc. She is interested in acting, directing and teaching and wants to be in a place where she can be trained for all three
Whew…a novel. I appreciate any suggestions or input you could give!

I don’t have a specific school to recommend but check out this thread. There are a few here and might compare. CCU is pretty unique, with it’s size, training and selectivity but there are a couple mentioned in this discussion that sound similar.

kelkend— Talk to Ken at CCU --He knows so much about all the different theatre programs and would probably be a great resource. So excited to hear your son loves CCU—My D is starting at CCU fall of 2013 as BFA -MT!! We are thrilled with everything about CCU—especially the faculty and students in the department!

Great idea. Thanks!

OOoo…helpful thread! Thanks!
