Schools like Emory and Vandy?

Does anyone know any schools similar in size and opportunity to emory or vanderbilt without the Greek aspect?
I'm looking for a midsize school somewhere in the east or south, preferably warm, with a good science program...
my stats and ec's fall right in there with all the good but just not-good-enough candidates for the ivies (about 2150 sat, 8 aps, 3 sports, couple clubs, some leadership, volunteering...but no hooks)

Please, can anyone recommend any schools?
oh yeah, if you could pick between emory and vanderbilt, which one is better?

shameless bump…

Sounds like you’re describing Rice. It has residential colleges instead of a Greek scene and a very strong science program. Check it out!

While Emory has a greek presence, it is not predominate like at Vandy or Wake.

But, for similar, check out Emory’s athletic conference.

Rice- D1 sports like Vanderbilt (well, SEC is a lot more exciting), no Greeks and great academics.

i think your stats are good enough for ivies. apply to a few you like and u may be surprised.

I’d second Rice, I’ll put in Wake Forest, College of William and Mary.

Wake is all Greek all the time. hahahahahaha

Wesleyan and Trinity have great science departments! In fact, there are lots of LACs that do: Oberlin (Ohio), Franklin & Marshall, Lafayette ¶ are some. For almost ivies, the first two are stellar.
