schools like UCLA, but easier to get into

Hahahaha. So. I love the idea of UCLA. it has everything I want in a college and it's my absolute dream school. However, I'm basically convinced I won't get in (I'm paranoid haha), so I'm trying to find schools that are just like UCLA, but not as hard to get into.

Suggestions?

College Search and Selection?

hmm uc riverside?

Similar by what measures?

USC.

Lol

10101010101010

alright i guess i'll repost this in the other section.

similar in the following ways: Proximity to large city, lots of clubs/activities to get involved in, large selection of majors to choose from, school spirit!! oh and the amazing great academics are a plus, too :P

i think berkeley is actually easier to get into since I know a bunch people who didn't get into UCLA but got into berkeley... santa barbara is a good choice too, maybe texas if you are not looking in state..

University of Arizona?

i know a lot of people here who didn't get into berkeley. i'd say the majority of my friends

USC, U Michigan (sorta)

Uchicago? BU?

michigan is just as hard to get into as UCLA, ucla might even be easier if you are in state

The University of Chicago has no school spirit. It's more like "Where Fun Comes to Die" and a sort of collective masochism towards academia. Amazing academics. Crap sports. No one cares about sports there. If you consider yourself an "intellect" - Chicago is for you! UCLA is more like well-rounded, go team go!, BRUINS FOR LIFE! kinda thing.

UCLA sounds more for you since you're in-state as opposed to U Michigan.

Large cities? Which ones?
Clubs/activities? Don't choose LACs! Medium-large universities will have their fair selection. The same goes with its number of majors. School spirit is linked to great sports... often the large state universities in XYZ conferences.

Great academics? Scan the front page of the USNWR and see if any of them fit the bill?

Pitt, BU, USC, UCSB

That really depends on major.

Admission to both Cal and UCLA is based on the schools within the university, not really the major.

SMU? USC is nearly as difficult to get into as UCLA, isn't it? Second Santa Barbara and University of Arizona. Berkeley and UCLA are both gambles, admissions wise- one is not necessarily easier than the other. UT at Austin is supposed to be great and Austin is way cooler than Westwood. Is Eugene a big town? U of Oregon has some good school spirit and academics (but not as good as UCLA).

Eugene isn't that big.

I beg to differ about Austin, but that's a matter of taste. ;)

Eugene is supposed to be a great college town. Chapel Hill is as well. And that city UVa is in.
