I live in FL and go to a nationally ranked top 10 HS, all courses are either honors or AP so my course load is very tough.

I play Varsity Lax for my district HS, and I have other ECs (volunteering for Obama, coaching, etc.) and have great recs and essay!

My grades aren't that great. (I have like a 3.76 W GPA), and I'm proud of my SAT which is a 2100.

What schools would you recommend me? I want a school like UMiami, a private school under 10k (or so) with a great social life and a fun city/town close. I also want it to be a more open minded and diverse student body than some southern privates.

I'm open to any part of the country! Please get back to me ASAP!

Why not UMiami? Because of the 10k thing? You could probably get some aid (granted I know nothing about their aid, but you could probably get something), I don’t know of many quality private schools that will be 10k w/out aid, but just try UMiami, :P.

Northwestern may be on the outside of your stats, but is definitely doable if you can convince them you’re dedicated to it (if you are interested and that’s true, that is).

Temperature might be an issue for you, but I know a TON of Floridians who made the transplant.

I’m interpreting the 10k number to be student population.

Vanderbilt?
Emory? This is the closest I can think of for you.
UMichigan (Seems like OOS get in much more easily than instate.)
Try not to rule out larger schools. They can be in great locations and have lots of fun things going on.

For those trying to help, UM has a beautiful campus, great academics and facilities, about 10,000 students. It is located in an upscale suburb of Miami in a very suburban area. Close to many stores and malls and public transportation. Much in the way of nightlife off campus.

You may want to post this same question on the Miami thread as everyone people on it are attending or have kids there (like me!!)

Check out Boston College, GWU, American, Tulane, Loyola Chicago and Villanova. Northeastern and BU may fit the bill although both are larger, and Wake Forest is a bit smaller.

My UM grad S also applied to several of the above and felt he could have been happy at them.

UF and UM, and I’m sending in my Georgetown tonight.
I’m also turning in Tulane for EA and then I’m planning on applying to
USC
NYU
SMU
Northwestern
and Colorado

but I’m not sure! I’m confused. I need help!
