Schools like Vassar in Midwest

My friend is a freshman at Vassar and she wants me to apply.....however, it's 13 hours away from where I (we) live and it's too far for me.....any suggestions? Probably a little less selective?

Kenyon immediately comes to mind.

So much of the vibe at Vassar is about the NY hipster thing. Not sure you’d find that in the MW. College is a time to leave your comfort zone if you can swing it!

Earlham, Beloit, Kalamazoo, Knox, Wooster

I applied to all of those haha

How is the drinking/partying scene at Beloit compared to Vassar?

… Grinnell, Macalester, Oberlin.

Definitely Macalester if the urban vibe is part of Vassar’s attraction. Take a look at Rhodes in Memphis is you are willing to look south - not sure how far that is from you.

agree, Macalester would be the closest to the Vassar vibe.

Grinnell? 10 char

OP - on another post you mention that you’ve already applied to 16 schools - enough, already! People want to help, but please be a bit more transparent before throwing out random questions to “the floor”. There are enough posters here who really do need help.

Look at any LACs in the area. They won’t be exactly like Vassar, but they’ll be much closer than any university would be. Grinnell, Carleton, Macalester, St. Olaf (religious), etc.
