What colleges are similar to Wesleyan in terms of campus vibe? I understand there is only one Wesleyan, and no school can really recreate that... However, I'm looking for schools that are similarly quirky, artistic, intellectual and progressive, but not as selective (as I wouldn't get into Wesleyan even in my best dreams :( ).

Let's compile a list! Lewis and Clark in Portland is also considered liberal and quirky. What others would you add? Maybe Reed... Reed's somewhat similar, but it's also very selective.

Macalester and Kenyon immediately come to mind. Macalester is located in a more urban area while Kenyon is much more rural. Both are outstanding LAC’s that may be a little less selective. Oberlin would also be a consideration.

Oh wow, I’m extremely impressed by Beloit. Definitely going to apply there as well. I’ve been introduced to Sarah Lawrence as well, I’m strongly considering it. I’m going to research all of the other colleges recommended, keep them coming!

thank you. I actually live in Ohio, so I already knew of Oberlin, although i think schools like Vasser, Grinnell and Oberlin are still WAY out of my reach.

i looked up Hampshire and it sounded great, then i checked out [this site.](http://www..com/MA/HAC_comments.html?page=1&type=&d_school=Hampshire%20College) yikes! wasn’t expecting that at all! i like Bard somewhat, but the website essential says don’t apply if your GPA is under 3.5. do they really place that much emphasis on GPA?

Beloit College
Colorado College (may be too much much of a reach)
Earlham College
Goucher College
Hampshire College
Lawrence University
Whitman College

You must be referring to this statement on the Bard site:

According to US News, Bard’s admit rate was 33% for Fall 2009. The 1 in 10 must refer to the ratio between final enrollment and applicants. If the yield (the number of students accepting an offer) is 1 in 3, then yes, the applicants to enrollments would be about 1 to 10.

(Anyone ever wish they could go back in time and talk some sense into their younger selves? This college application process is so much more stressful when you know your stats don’t accurately reflect who you are at your own fault.)
