I am confused...if i don't get into my top choice school. Should i go to the college with the name or a better program. For instance...if i have a choice of UCI or Cal state Long Beach/Fullerton/Northridge or Chapman University? Should i go for the university title (UCI) or the better faculty and program? Btw..my too choice is UCLA. Anyways..right now i am just focusing and practicing my buns off to get into la. oh yea...and i am not up to the conservatory level but would like to attend a prestigious graduate school (yale, usc, etc) for music. Is school name more important or faculty/competition more important for UNDERGRAD? ...maybe i'm thinking too much. haha. i'm just curious about your opinions from experience and such. and i would like reasons to your opinions! Thanks a lot!

When applying to graduate school, once again, the audition is most important, but then your music theory testing is also factored into admission.

Bottom line is for you to attend the school that will help you grow and succeed as a musician.

Where did you hear this about music theory and grad school admissions? DS is applying to grad schools and music theory is not even being assessed at the schools to which he is applying (he says)...he applies, sends transcripts from undergrad, gets references and goes to audition. No mention of any kind of theory test.
