Schools of Accounting Please Help

Ooooh I see.....
=(
Well Thanx for the info I will try my best =P

I agree with Taxguy. I'm not up on the new CPA license requirements but to my mind a MS in taxation complements an accounting undergraduate degree very well.

Or an MS in Forensic Accounting, which is the new up and coming profession.

So I will get the 30 hours for CPA during my master degree?
Master degree will be more than 30 hours right? =P

What is Forensic Accounting?

Forensic Accounting= fraud auditing;.

San Diego State has a very good accounting program, but so do several of the other cal states. SDSU Would might be a match with your GPA and test scores, but you need to compute your UC/cal state GPA and admisisons index to gage that. You can find out how to do this at www.csumentor.edu.

At www.csumentor.edu, you can also see which cal states have accounting programs. Cross-check them against the accredited programs on the site I gave above.

After you have chosen a few cal states, start branching out to find other programs elsewhere. The reason it is important to get hot on the cal states is that most have a very limited window for applying, especially to impacted programs like business. So, I'd recommend getting them out of the way ASAP.
The application is relatively simple, you don't even need teacher recommendations or an essay.

Yea I have started application on CSUN amd CSUEB
But I havent got my SAT scores yet do I just send my old one?
I will apply to SDSU as well
Thanx guys for the recommendations <3

Is it possible for me to go to more prestigious graduate schoolif i do good on undergraduate?

Yes, absolutely.

thanx for your helps
I really appreciate your time

AdamantineX look at Bentley College its got a Top 20 program for accounting and is right next to Boston. I hope to transfer there or somewhere else in Boston or on the west coast from Penn State

Dunkaroo, You might also look at Towson. I believe they have a very high first time pass rate on the cpa exam. Business seems to be a strong department for them. Although they are mid- large in size they have smaller classes. It is also near Baltimore. Just another option if Bentley does not work out. Taxguy can tell you more bcs his son goes there. I think he is a senior now.

Towson has a very good but VERY hard accounting program that has all the requisite business accreditations. If you get into their honors programs, honors courses are even smaller than regular classes. My son's freshmen honors accounting course had 12 people. Lots of sports at Towson, and lots of things to do. I also think that Playboy or one of the major rags...er... magazines rated Towson in the top 5 for most beautiful woman. They have a dance program there and exercise science program there plus good drama and theater. Thus, lots of good looking people.

UMD also has a very strong accounting program, and I hear that it is even harder than Towson's, which I can't imagine. You should check out both schools.

Wow...... interesting facts =P

I am just confused cause I dont think most UC's have accounting program and I live in California. Most CSU's have them and I heard CSUN (Northridge) has one of the best accounting program. Is this true?

[/quote]

UC's have accounting minors - UCLA, UCSB, UCR, etc.

Not sure where you got that info about CSUN, but it is far from the truth. In fact, to my knowledge, CSUN doesn't even have the best accounting program within the CSU system.

USC Leventhal is the best accounting program in CA, it is usually ranked top 5 in the nation. Also the evidence is in the recruiting, USC feeds more than half of the accounting interns at the big 4's (So Cal offices) each year with UCLA coming in 2nd. The CSU's usually fill maybe 5% or less. Up north, UCB and Stanford are the big feeders.

Does anyone know how good the accounting program is at Bucknell University?

Adamantinex,
What area of the country are you interested in?

California
But I think I can go out of state if i have to
I am currently applying to CSUN, CSUEB, SDSU

afterhours: the counselor told my sister that CSUN tied with Berkeley on the CPA exam. That is what I heard =P I really have no idea what it means but "tied with Berkeley" kinda told me something. I am not sure however if this is right or not

My scores arent that high u can look it up its on this thread

And I dont want to minor in accounting, I wanna major in accounting and minor in something else =P

whats the different between major/minor?

Not sure if that's true or not, but the bottomline is that almost all accounting majors want to end up at a big 4 or reputable accounting firm. USC Leventhal is unquestionably the biggest feeder to the big 4 in Southern California. It's your decision whether you want access or not, just don't end up a indepedent CPA with the gazillion or so out there.
