I am interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish.

I already hold a Bachelor of Science degree in an IT field and I am employed full-time in the IT sector. My desire to pursue a degree in Spanish is not motivated by career goals, but rather is something I want to undertake for personal reasons. However, due to my full-time employment, I have an absolute requirement that my next degree program is carried out entirely online.

I have done some preliminary research, but I am having a hard time finding any schools which offer foreign language programs fully online. I ran across a few schools offering 100- and 200-level classes online, but that is not quite what I am looking for. I know that the concept of studying a foreign language virtually is a bit awkward, but surely someone must offer such a program?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Thomas Edison State College in NJ is an on-line public college. They offer 6 levels of Spanish but not sure if they grant an undergraduate degree. They may allow you to create your own major. I would check their web site.

Tom, thanks for the suggestion. I went to Edison’s website and took a look around. I do see the 6 levels of Spanish which they offer, but these courses appear to be offline only. Under the heading of Online Courses, there is no Spanish listed.

The University of London’s External Programme offers several foreign language bachelors degrees. They offer a respected distance learning degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies via Birkbeck, one of their constituent universities:

The U of London has been offering distance learning degrees for over a century, and its degrees are extremely well respected.
