Schools often mentioned in movies and TV series in 2010?

Vassar is also common in movies, and especially in books. Dont know why though. I think its probably the most mentioned LAC in pop culture.

I don’t know about Wesleyan, but one of the characters was from Harvard and the main guy is from Princeton/Harvard Business School I think

So Harvard and Stanford were the most mentioned schools in movies and TV series this year. Well, I’m not surprised.

While all the films do not mention USC about 50 plus directors use all or part of the Los Angeles campus as backgrounds for films. In addition, many TV shows use the campus or buildings as settings.

All of these films used part of the campus:
Forrest Gump
The Graduate
Marathon Man
Brewster’s Millions
Rising Sun
Personal Best
City Slickers II
Man Trouble
Legally Blonde
Legally Blonde II

Scenes from the campus were used in these films:
A League of Their Own
For the Love of the Game
Thirteen Days
Young Frankenstein
Party of Five

TV Shows Filmed on Campus:
The Paper Chase
Fresh Prince of Bel Air
Murder 101
Rockford Files
Charlie’s Angels

Scenes from the buildings or campus were used in Ally McBeal, Felicity and Kiss the Girls.

Since you did USC, I have to do UCLA!

films:
Legally Blonde
Angels & Demons
Old School
The Nutty Professor
American Pie 2
Erin Brockovich

TV:
Greek
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The O.C. (as Berkeley)
Gilmore Girls (as Harvard)

mentioned in…
Glee
Alias

Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in celebrity news…
Michael Jackson
Lindsay Lohan
Britney Spears
Zsa Zsa Gabor
Farrah Fawcett
etc…

(proud deathbed!!!)
Ed McMahon
John Wayne
etc…

There are probably dozens of more instances but I’m too lazy to research. -.-

Previous two posters, try reading the title.

^Yeah, some of the movies mentioned haven’t been within the past year or so.

A lot of the celebrity news happened just this year. UCLA is the center of celebrity news because Ronald Reagan is the best hospital in the west. -.-

Quick search from TMZ yields UCLA involved in 2010 with

 • Lindsay Lohan
 • Zsa Zsa Gabor
 • Dog “The Bounty Hunter”
 • Chyna
 • John Wooden
 • Corey Haim

Modern Family made a reference to Columbia & Brown. Here’s the quote from EW:

“Honestly I wish that little tart would go back to Columbia and take her weird little Brown friend with her.” — Cameron about Mitchell’s pretentious Ivy League friends [but Gloria thinks he’s talking about her and Manny (who are Colombian)]

Incredible life to this horrible series; NBC keeps renewing…Chuck is a Stanford dropout. They had a love-interest who still attended the school… There aren’t but a couple on campus that look as good as her - forgot the actress’ name.

Gregory House MD: Johns Hopkins.

Dot Com, the more introspective, intellectual half of Tracy’s entourage, portrayed by Kevin Brown http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0114018/filmoyear.

Hermione chose Brown over Hogwarts.

I semi-saw part of some show about a family who have superpowers last week, and it was mentioned that the mother went to MIT.

Hmm. Not sure how that became the take away from this thread. “House”, “How I Met Your Mother”, “The Office”, “The Big Bang Theory”, “Inception”,“Wall Street2”, “The Blind Side”, “Friday Night Lights”, “The Colbert Report” vs. “Fringe” and “The Social Network” is how I read it.

Fordham. Which has been the situs of 5 or 6 blockbuster movies as well. Scenes from Love Story, Exorcist, WallStreet2 and A Beautiful Mind were shot at Fordham.

Do the UPS commercials count as mentions of Brown? ;)

I know a few people who enjoy Chuck, actually. I think it also mentions UCLA a few times since that’s where two of the characters went to med school
