Schools On The Rise?!

Bentley is on the rise also.

Schools that have come up significantly in last decade: WashU, NYU, BC, BU, USC, Columbia, Duke.

by far the biggest riser is UGA; also wisconsin and syracuse

although if you look at the USNWR rankings, columbia has consistenly remained #9-11 for the past 15 or so years (but in some outlier years, their ranking fluctuated).

Is it fair to say that Columbia University is under-rated?

Which campus are you referring to?

University of Cincinnati claims that they are on the rise, although I do not know how valid that claim is. DAAP and CCM are hard to beat, especially in the midwest anyways.

This school has risen.

electrical engineering, and because UCSB has a much better EE department than Berkeley (and I mean much), and people just plain work too hard at MIT.

I never wanna hear that SB has a better EE department than Berk ever again in my life.

To add to that is the "i mean much"

George Washington University has gotten much more selective. UGA,NYU, and Miami are also rising/have rissen.

University of Florida

"electrical engineering, and because UCSB has a much better EE department than Berkeley (and I mean much), and people just plain work too hard at MIT.

same here, how can you even compare those two departments. Berk #3, SB #?

btw, has there been any schools that went down significantly

soloboe...although it still tops out the USnews rankings..I think Harvard'd undergraduate reputation has taken a real beating in the last 3-5 years.

WashU and Duke's rises have been remarkable. These were both 2nd tier schools for much of thd 80s and 90s. They're not doing to bad.

BU- over 31,000 apps this year

At the university level -Duke, and Upenn. At the LAC level several Patriot League Schools-Colgate, Holy Cross and Bucknell.

How is Duke on the rise? Duke has never been a "second-tier" school like others suggested. It's always been considered as one of the top schools in the nation. Just look at past US news rankings, and you'll see that Duke has always been at least top 10, and usually top 6 or 7.

I think UC Davis is also on the rise....
As of rank it is ranked #4 out of all the UC's

I believe that the school which will rise the most is Tulane. They are actively trying to increase their prestige. They plan to double their endowment in the next few years, they are giving large scholarships to ivy-calibur students, and acceptance rate is dropping dramatically (I believe around 20% in the last 2 years).

Another school that will rise (probably not as much as Tulane) is U of Miami. Acceptance rate is lower than Emory's and is continuing to drop as U of M is in a great city and more people are associating U of M with great academics. In addition, its Usnews rank has improved moreso than any other university in its position.
