UCSB wont surpass UCLA.
I think that most of the UC's will remain in the same position, with UCI rising more than the others. And what can 5 Novel Laureates do?

Berkeley and UCLA will probably stay put for some time.

Riverside will rise slightly, while Merced will become the new dump for UC applicants.

The "best" and most selective have always been, William and Mary and UVA.

I think Virginia Tech ranks right up there though because it's a great engineering school, unbelievably gorgeous campus, great school spirit.

James Madison seems to be gaining not only in popularity but in selectiveness.

But hands down, the most upcoming public school in Virginia, considered Virginia's "best kept secret", is The University of Mary Washington. In my opinion, for Virginia----no question. This school was once known as the "sister" school for UVA. The campus is beautiful, the school is very selective and the girl/boy ratio is similar to James Madison and almost identical to William and Mary. The University of Mary Washington was formerly known as Mary Washington College, it gained University status in July of 2004. Of course, this school would appeal to a student looking for a smaller college. Approximately 4,500 students, I think. Virginian's check it out.
