In no particular order, some that come to mind are:

the Paris Conservatoire
the Conservatories in Moscow and Saint Petersburg
Hochschule fuer Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin,
the Royal Academy of Music, Trinity College and the Guildhall School, all in London,
the National Academy of Saint Cecilia in Rome.

My D (violinist) has several friends from her youth orchestra who matriculated at McGill this year. We are eagerly awaiting their fall break visit to get their impressions. We visited this summer and found the new facility quite impressive. It's definitely something my D plans to investigate further over the coming year (she's a junior) There is an amazing amount of musical activity going on there.

I was just on the McGill website tonight - it does look worth pursuing. Does anyone know if Music Ed leads to accepted credentials for licensure in the U.S. as well? I e-mailed the admissions counselor, but you folks are often faster!
