I wanted to know what are some schools that are in the same category as umd and lehigh in terms of math and business. I know these are two different schools but i feel they both have closely ranked math and business programs at undegrad level

Hi! im a sophomore business major with a minor in accounting here at Marist. Lehigh was actually my second choice for school, however my grades from high school fell a little short of their business program and I was deferred. I chose Marist next because I have heard nothing but good things about their business program, in fact, a friend of mine from home works on the board of directors at a Verizon company and says he has seen many Marist students hired by his employers. Marist is also located near New York City and with a short train ride, you are able to bask in opportunities NYC has to offer. Finally, Marist has proven to do everything they can to help students with their future, for they offer mock interview days, numerous job fairs, and resume days. I truly know that when I graduate, I will have an excellent chance in the business world. As far as math goes, I have also taken a math class called ‘discrete math’ and my professor was great, clear, and informative. Hope this helps !

what can your family afford, OP? what about your qualifications: grades, SATs, SATIIs, year in school, gender, ECs? what region and size limitations? There are a lot of good math and business programs out there.

hello! those are both great schools! They are two similar schools and two different schools at the same time. However, another school you may want to consider is Marist College. Marist College is a great school in both those fields. I am currently a Business major and I have been considering the same thing about having either a double major in Business and Math or a minor. While both fields are challenging, Marist gives students the best intentions to do well. Marist is a college that I have always known I wanted to apply to because of all the good things said. Here I am, a freshmen at Marist and I could not be happier. I have only been here for about two months and I have already seen how much they have to offer. Being so close to the city, firms here about Marist all the time. I am part of a club here called Beta Alpha Psi, and it is a club for all those in the Business field especially in accounting and financing. This club allows you to meet with different big firms and hear about what and who they are looking for to recruit. It is a great club to be apart of because even as a freshmen, I am aware of where I want to go in my next 4 years at Marist. One of the big firms said that they recognize Marist College because of how close it is to the city. Marist offers many resources to help each student do well and you really grasp a better idea of that once you become a student here. Good luck!

@pardullet: ACC schools are similar to UMd? Really? Maybe some are, but MANY are far more selective and have far greater stature (UVa, BC, Georgia Tech, Duke, Wake, and UNC-CH are examples).

@TopTier what would u suggest then

Other examples of ACC schools are Lousville, Florida State, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse.

@TopTier - of course you’re riight about the schools you list. Is GTech far more selective? Also, FSU, Louisville, Syracuse, Clemson, Pitt, NCST and VT are also ACC schools. Perhaps I should have said several instead of most.

@rjkofnovi: You’ll note that @pardullet said “ACC schools,” not SOME ACC schools. If he had appropriately qualified his remarks, I would have had no objection and I would not have commented.

Further, yes, Georgia Tech is certainly more selective than UMd . . . and Notre Dame, Syracuse, Clemson, Miami and Pitt likely are, too (all are equal or better than Maryland in the latest U S News assessment). That’s eleven of fifteen, by my count.

@ TopTier I disagree. I would think UMD is a better school than syracuse miami clemson and pitt in terms of business or engineering considering us news rankings. Maybe lower as an overall school
