Claremont Colleges

^A nice fit, but OP is looking for less selective schools and prefers to be outside CA.

OP, this is going in the entirely wrong direction selectiveness-wise, but are you applying to Yale?

Thank you all for your replies! :)

Specifically,

@Consolation: A solid ACT in my mind is a 30+ score. Personally, my strongest subsections are english (35) and reading (33). Also, you’ve made a fair point regarding midwest/northeast weather. I could definitely live in the type of weather that people in the Northeast and Midwest endure, I’d just prefer to avoid it; having grown up in southern ca, adjusting to those types of climates would most likely be much more difficult than adjusting to the higher temperatures/humidity of the south.

@takeittallin: I’d like to go to school out of state, and while the Claremont Colleges are excellent–and competitive in terms of admissions, as SlitheyTove mentioned–schools, they are a little too close to home.

@SlitheyTove: lol @ your first statement. Yale is not on my list at this point; the residential college system there is definitely something that I value in a school, but living in Connecticut is not my ideal.

I’d also suggest Colorado College if the block system is something you are willing to try. Sounds like it meets your criteria except for ‘large city.’ It’s still pretty urban, so I understand.

Trinity University?

^Ehhhh…it doesn’t really interest me.

If I were to extend my search to the full breadth of the United States, what recommendations would you have for me?

I talked with a counselor and she thinks that I really SHOULD look into schools in the Northeast; she suggested Yale.
