schools that advertise on.....

does anyone think schools that advertise on the internet are of 2nd tier to schools that don't... i have seen advertisements for boarding schools on boarding school review and even facebook

There are approximately 300 boarding schools in the country. How many of them can you name?

I think that many of the schools that advertise are not as well known or deal with the geographic liability of not being in New England which has a much stronger tradition of sending kids to BS. In addition to trying to increase the number of BS that the “traditional” BS crowd can name, we are advertising the concept of boarding school as much as we are advertising our specific schools.

I think the advertising is also an effort by admissions directors to increase the diversity in their student bodies. The internet is a great way to reach people who haven’t heard of your school. Consider that there are people who show up on this site have never heard of Groton!!
