Hi, I know there is a list here somewhere, but can someone remind me which US universities are need blind for international students? I recall that it is the Ivys and Amherst, but what are the others? Thanks, Londondad
Anybody know?
MIT
You can Google to find the lists. I like the Wikipedia list, search for “meets need colleges”, you can see the various permutations of the two things you are likely looking for. Schools that are need-blind in admissions for internationals (so don’t take need into account in the admission decision) and schools that meet need for internationals (so the need based aid provided is expected to make the school affordable for the student).
There are currently only 5 colleges that do both: Amherst, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, and Yale.
Bear in mind that that schools that are need-blind for int’ls are also the hardest ones in which to get admitted. Look also at schools where int’ls are eligible for MERIT scholarships. The chances will be better.
This is great. Thanks
In general, it is pretty challenging for international students to get need. There are schools that meet need (their definition, of course) for everyone, BUT aren’t need blind for internationals – so you need super high stats to get in. I think the best bets are the automatic merit schools (based on stats) that will give the scholarships to internationals.
