<p>Two surprises for me from the Penn data:</p>

<li> Out of 18,824 total applicants, 11,567 applicants attended a secondary school that did not provide rank in class.<br></li>
</ol>
<p>Doesn't that seem like a lot of schools (applicants) ? That is 61% of applicants from schools that don't provide class rank!</p>
<p>Our HS did away with class rank a few years ago, but does give decile info. </p>
<p>We had 2 (that I know of) accepted to Penn ED this year. </p>
<ol>
<li> Out of 3,916 admitted students, only 2057 schools are represented! So multiple admits from a school are the rule. </li>
</ol>
<p>and, I know I said 2, but number 3, I was a bit disappointed to see that only 52%, barely half of enrolled students came from public schools.</p>
