I've been thinking of wanting to go to NYU. I've read their transfer admission requirements and it says that you have to show your high school transcript. Let's just say i didn't make any good choices in high school.

But my question is, i'm looking for a good journalism program as a transfer student, the admission policy doesn't look at your hs transcript.

NYU
Columbia

are out of the question :)

what was your GPA?

secondly, I’m in the same boat as you.

any more I forgot? please post.

u florida, requires it but does not place ANY weight whatsoever (its there to check that you have taken 2 foreign lang courses and passed with at least a C)

they say its not weighted and im proof that its certainly not.

(SATs are not required as well)

Just because they ask for your HS transcript does not mean that those old bad grades will count for much - especially if you have shown great improvement once you got to college and got your act together.

Your most recent GPA is the most important one.

For most colleges, they require a high school transcript but not all of them actually review it and take it into account when making an admissions decision. I know that UIUC requires it regardless of the # of credit hours but they use it for proof of graduation and the foreign language requirements. Just go on each school’s individual website and they should state on there. Also, try calling the admissions office and speak to a transfer counselor.

I had a 2.8 in high school and I got into U of Michigan still, I would definitely apply anyway. Michigan was the only school I applied to that required me to send my high school transcripts. I was admitted to Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University (also in Michigan) without high school transcripts (as well as Eastern and Northern Mich, but if you were considering NYU I assume those are completely out of the question anyway. :P)

Its mostly public in-state schools that doesnt look at your high school records after you earned 30 credits.
