Schools that don't require counselor recs?

<p>What Tier 1 schools (HYPMS, CIT, JHU, WUSTL etc...) don't require counselor recs?
My school allows for only 6 applications to private schools... they'd rather have everyone go to UCB. we have one counselor per 500 students. Where can i apply on my own (without school approval)?</p>

Look for the “SR” column on the right side. Schools that don’t require counselor recommendations will have a blank in that column.</p>

<p>You definitely shouldn’t limit yourself to what your school wants you to do in any case. Especially using the common app, you should have no problem applying to a lot of schools as far as I am aware. The common app schools would seem like a single school to your counselor, no?</p>
