Schools that fit me...

<p>I've made quite a lot of posts on this forum and have received much help from the community. So, I am turning to you guys once again for help to finalize my college list.
Profile:
-French international male student from Vietnam. Rising senior in spe S.
-GPA: 4.7 W on American scale. 14.2 on French scale. My school doesn't print the GPA on the transcipt. I calculated my own GPA.
-SAT: Will take in October. Practice test got 1950(620 CR/680m/650W). Hoping to get 2000+ in the real one. Not planning on taking SAT IIs.
-IELTS: 8.5
-Class Rank: School doesn't show rank but shows the class averages for each subject and I'm above most of them. I asked around and I'm probably 8th or 9th in a class of 20.</p>

<p>-French baccalaureate: 15 French Writing/12 French Oral/9 History :( /14 in TPE (individual project/oral presentation)
-Extracurricular activities:
Volunteer translator at World Vision Vietnam(60 letters per batch/twice a week/a month). It takes me 8-10 hours to finish one batch as I need to proof read everything.
Work at parent’s company for 2 years on school breaks (We have lots of school breaks).
Joined a team (new group created in my junior year) to write articles on the school website. Didn’t do much.
Translated TV shows scripts for the National Television Broadcaster of Vietnam. (This summer)
Charity work at a home for disabled children (donations and visits) in 9th and 10th grade. I went there twice(2.5 hours drive from where I live).
-Interested majors: Neuroscience (I like it but it doesn't offer much job oppurtunities in my country) or Communications (Don't like as much as Neuro but offers a lot of jobs in Vietnam.) or Computer Science. </p>

<p>I've thought long and hard about what I want in a college and I've compiled list of criteria I look for in finding one. I hope you can help me find some. Here it goes:
-I like schools that actually have a campus. Not a must though.
-A decent percentage of the student body being Asian (say 5-10% or more). I'm not being racist in any way. Diverse and friendly student body. (I would like to make friends :D)
-Quite lively social scene. Not necessarily a party school but a school with a lot of things to do in and out the campus.
-Weather:Cool/Cold Winter.
-Possibilty to study abroad? Not a must.
-A bit of prestige internationally wouldn't hurt.
-Well-rounded college as I'm still unsure about my major and I'd like to have a wide array of selections.
-Not so prevalent greek life.
-Comfortable dorms/good living conditions (e.g: A/C, good food...)
That's it!</p>

<p>I've plugged these criteria in Collegeboard and it gave me list of 465 schools. Quite overwhelming actually!
I know I'm being very picky and I doubt that there are schools that meet 100% of what I want. I wouldn't say no to a school that doesn't have everything. :D
Schools that I'm looking into right now are Lafayettte, PSU-UP, Fordham, NYU(though doesn't have a campus) and St.Olaf. Not a definite list though, I will make more changes based one what you'll give me. I think I will apply to around 8 schools (3 reaches-5 matches).Safeties would probably French unis.
I really appreciate your help as I will need all I can get! Sorry for ths LONG LONG post! Hope I'm not being annoying! </p>

<p>P.S: My parents agree to pay full-tuition so I wouldn't want to waste $50k.</p>

<p>The schools you’re thinking about are extremely different - NYU and St. Olaf/Lafayette have absolutely nothing in common! Before you proceed, you need to decide - do you want a small liberal arts college - or a large university? Do you want urban or suburban/rural? You say you want a bit of prestige internationally, but only NYU on your list fits that criteria. (The others are good, just not known outside the US, and even within the US they’re not that well known.) That is why a search engine gave you over 400 schools - you did not do a narrow enough a search.</p>

<p>I was looking into them because they were recommended and they seemed to fit my criteria. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small liberal arts school or an university nor if it’s urban or suburban/rural.
Preestige is just so that people here know what I’m talking about when I say I go to “____” school. It doesn’t play a big role in my college search though.</p>
