Schools that offer

biomedical engineering and robotics. I have a 3.95 gpa and will take the ACT in December. I would like to stay in Colorado or westward. My last choice would be a California school. Lived there for 14 years and don't want to go back. Any ideas?

What can your family afford? What’s your home state?

Home state is Utah. My mom makes 36100 gross a year so I’ll need financial aid-loans, scholarships etc.

Are you a morman? BYU is good and has the program you wanted.

Nope…sorry we’re not.

It’s not Colorado or west, but check out the U. of Minnesota. It’s one of the less expensive public universities for out-of-state students. It has a strong biomedical engineering program and Minneapolis is a center for companies in that area. I’m not sure if there is a specific robotics education program, but there are research centers in that area including the Center for Distributed Robotics and a Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Medical School. So, I guessing there is relevant coursework and research opportunities in robotics, though it might be across several engineering depts.

The U of Washington would be another school with strong biomedical engineering; again, not sure if there is a specific robotics program, though they do research in biomedical robotics applications. UW will be more expensive than U Minnesota, though.

Are you a senior? You’re taking the ACT kind of late if you’re a senior.

It’s really hard to say what schools will be affordable for you since we don’t know what your test scores will be. Most schools do not “meet need” so affordability will be an issue.

You have to be careful that you apply to some schools that you know will be affordable.

If you don’t end up with a high test score, then your most affordable choice may be your instate public.

UMinn(mentioned above) is a great school, but if you’re OOS, then it probably won’t be affordable unless you have fabulous test scores and get some large merit scholarship.

Colorado State U. offers biomedical engineering. Not sure about robotics coursework, but some CSU faculty do research in that area.

Also, since you’re a Colorado resident you may be eligible for reduced tuition at schools in other states that participate in the Western Undergraduate Exchange.See: [Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) | Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education](http://wue.wiche.edu/)

Participating schools that offer biomedical engineering include U Idaho, Montana State, U Utah, and Washington State.
